Guys what is available, what was fitted stock?
Buy new? Buy another tranny with LSD there and swap?
What works for track days best?
What you suggest? _________________ ---

The std one was a plate LSD, and it was a surprisingly cheap option, but few ticked that box. A used one would most likely need a rebuild, so add that to the cost.
It depends a bit on your car, power levels, available grip usage and what you prefer it to do.
I bought a barely used quaife diff, because i dont want to do any rebuilds of the clutch pack, and its a road car aswell, and they are good at that. Its a track day car but not all out race car. Sadly because of the engine rebuild it sits on a shelf. Clutch LSDs can also lock during braking, not super important for our cars but can add stability during braking. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Here's a good thread for starters in general, however time passes and people learn on themselves and some parts disappear from market as well. Would be nice to hear a bit from Britain about his experience with those trannies.

Going new and plate means any setup I want 70/30 80/20... Which one I want? A good rule of thumb?
Talked to one fast guy about Quaife and he prefers plate ones (talked to him when he had Quaife in the diff) as when turning around a cone Quaife sucks as won't lock the diff... Not sure this would apply to my driving (yet).
However the breaking aid when breaking with engine is interesting. I think I read a bout it somewhere on the 911 forums (they suggested Guards LSDs for 915 gearbox).
BTW I was thinking to get another gearbox as mine has some issues anyway, so might be smart to rebuild another one on the bench with LSD in it and then just swap them.
Thanks for any guidance _________________ ---

So I got the offer from these guys in the UK:
https://www.3jdriveline.com/differentials/3j-driveline-lsd-applications/
As I'm a newbie in the LSD market and exact tech specs, can someone tell me what this means?
I told I need LSD for fast road / track day 924 Turbo and they suggested:
40/90 – 40-50 lbs/ft.
Thanks
Edit: Found a list of LSD manufacturers, slightly outdated, but still many in business.

I have a quaife LSD in my 931 and works really well, on the track and also in the street usage, unfortunately england is outside euro so you have to add duty taxes
I have a plate LSD in my sierra cosworth and it works very well like the quaife one _________________ 924T Dta inj + sequential LPG

If the product is made in the UK you only pay your normal tax, not any extra duty, i think its part of the uk eu trade deal. Worked well for my gaz shocks, didnt have to pay duty on those. As long as the quafies are still made there of course:) _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

I think I'll go with the friction plate ones. I had a chat with the tech guy at 3J and he's to come back to me with an upgrade set so I can make the LSD more aggressive later when I want it. I'll keep you updated. _________________ ---

Dont look at the race car guys when chosing spec, go soft with preload etc or you might have a car thats annoying on the road and chugging the inner rear wheel in tight corners. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Their advise is:
Quote: | We would suggest 924 - 40/60 – 45-55 lbs/ft |
If you have any advice on above, you will be heared
I asked for a quote also for an upgrade kit, so I can add more friction/tension later. _________________ ---
