I have a '78 924 and was looking through AutoTrader when I came upon a 1979 924, converted to turbo. It was offered for $1200 O.B.O. So I went to look at it yesterday and it was in fair condition on the outside and the interior was a little rough with some parts for the console area in a box in the hatch. He's selling it as a tow away because it can't pass emissions. It runs pretty strong, and it looked as if the turbo that a previous owner put on was from Neuspeed. He told me then that I could take it for $900. It also had a "Sebring '79" sticker on it...but I think the owner just put it on for the heck of it. I don't think it's a Sebring. But my main question is if I should buy it as a parts car, because my car has a dent in the back, and a dent on the front panel between the headlights, and I could use the parts. Or should I buy it just becasue it's a pretty good deal? You guys are smart...just listening to some opinions. Thanks.

i wouldn't pay $900 for it, nor do i think many other people would, especially since it's considered a tow away. he'll probably lower the price again for you when no one else wants the car. _________________ ljamesdickinson@yahoo.com

The turbo setup has some extra value. make him an offer of 700 and that sounds like a good deal, since the car does run.
Use your judgement though. _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net

well I figure you low ball it at 700 he wants 900 you settle on 800 or maybe get it for 700 or 750.
it is hard to price the car sight unseen, it might be worth 1200 even if he can't get it to pass smog.
the turbo system has me interested
like I said use your judgement _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net

go for it! If you have the money in pocket and need to get rid of it. Then soon I will buy the turbo setup from you. _________________ 1982 Porsche 924 in mild restoration process.

not that it means much, but that does look to be an actual Sebring. the black painted spokes on the wheels are the tip. i think these guys have solid advice for you. if nothing else you could have a solid body to strip and paint while you drive yours, then you can put together the mechanicals and have a shiny fast car. of course you need to consider whether you've got the space for it too.

If you need the parts 900 is ok. You can haggle for one or two hundred but that shouldn't keep you from buying it. _________________ 1981 924 NA
