First check your wiring; that usually indicates a short to ground. Start by disconnecting the sender wire (and don't let it touch ground), see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't, you have a short to ground somewhere in the harness.
IIRC also if you have the wires connected backwards you'll have the same symptom...
To remove the sender, it takes a thing 17mm wrench IIRC... and short, too, to clear the firewall... but I'd suspect wiring. _________________ Vaughan Scott
