Hi Everyone,
After owning my 77 since 1996, I just came across a starting issue that I haven’t seen before, Turn the key and the whole dash goes out. Including any power to radio and interior lights. After about 5min, the electrics are normal, but if the key is in the run position same thing happens.Heres what I have tried so far.
Checks the battery volts and tested it’s passing. It’s only a few months old and always on a trickle charger.
Cleaned all connections including ground connections to body
Put it in 3rd gear and push started, and it starts and runs fine
Added a new ground from the alternator to make sure no grounding issues
No fuses blown
When this happens, if I disconnect the ground or live wire from the battery for a few second and reconnects, the all power is back on.

The only thing I can think of is the starter to body or some kind of overload cutoff activating. Any ideas?

I would inspect very closely wiring harness between small plastic connector located just by the battery to the starter and further alternator. They have lots of issues. I made and sold few before. Now they are available from Kroon wire in Netherlands.

I guess it is the ignition switch. Try to wiggle the key when the fault happens.Avoid many heavy stuff on your starter key fob....

The issue ended up being the starter No problem with the ignition switch or anything else. Hope someone finds this helpful.
