No Road Courses that I know of up here in AK, but there is an Oval track a few miles out of town. They have a Class called "Mini-Stock" which is limited to 4 cylinder cars. Just wondering if anyone has ever done anything like this and what you guys think? I have a spare 924 with no interior (except the dash and steering wheel) and was thinking it might be kind of fun to race. I know this is a sad way to use a Porsche, but rest assured that the other 924 I have (much better condition) will be used in the only other racing option I have up here, PCA Autocross. This will be a slow restoration project though and probably will take a few years.

Below is a link to the "rules" for the Mini-Stock Class. Anyone see any huge problems? I don't expect to have the fastest car in town (not even close), just simply want something to do on weekends with my family and have always had an interest in doing something like this.

They don't allow push bars. I can reinforce the bumper though. Seems kind of sketchy to use a porsche for this, but there are a lot of water cooled VW's and some Honda's, so it's not like I'd be out there with full sized Chevy's and Fords bumping and banging. Hell, I'll probably have the track to myself way in the back on the plus side, most engine mods are allowed (no turbo's, Superchargers or nitro), so I should be able to boost the HP a little. The interior is already missing on this vehicle and it would be too much to try and restore it. I will be switching the dash though, its in excellent condition (no cracks).

Rumor has it ...years ago a fellow put a 4 banger sports car ( I wanna say it was a 924, I think it was a 280z but that is an inline six) out with the chevy and ford boys at our local dirt oval for a friday night of bumping, it took all of 2 weekends to outlaw the car. it really wasn't the HP it was the handling and nuetral way the car acted but no one could catch him.

At least this was what I was told when asked why no one runs any of the asian cars or sportier american hybrids

My idea was to run a 924 engine in a gremlin or spirit since everyone was running pintos I figured who would care or notice
