Forgive me if this is taboo but bear with me. I'm a Porsche noob but I love my little 924. I was at a local burger shop where classic cars are the theme and I had a young boy just gaga over my 924. "Is that your car Mr.?", "Can I see it?", "I like that car". then he said something that has stuck with me for 2 weeks. "You should put a stripe on it"
Now I have the bug to put a stripe over the driver's side, I'm thinking a 5-inch, with a one-inch gap and a one-inch stripe. My car is white with black accents already and black wheels and looks amazing from the side, but I think it needs something from the front and back. I think another black stripe would be fine, but maybe a little color would be appropriate? Its not a Martini so I don't want to even pretend it is. But what about a light-blue, maybe to go with my Gulf sticker (PO put that on, not me, but I like it too). Thoughts? Too tacky?

I think we are all Porsche 924 owners because we are individuals. They don't make a lot of financial sense, but they are super fun, and they are a Porsche.

I say, go for it, and let us know how it goes. Google "Porsche Racing Stripes for ideas.

Since your soliciting opinions, it looks nice and clean as is (without the gulf sticker). The PO painted stripes on mine that will be sanded off before repainting and hitting the road. His intention was for it to be a track car.

The "Porsche" along rocker looks good. I was considering that for mine too.

I think the 924 looks great with hood stripes.

One of my favorites is the period-correct three-stripe 924 decal like this one:

I had Roy Duncan in the UK make one of these a while ago for a 924 Turbo that I used to own...although I never got around to installing it before I sold the car.

Martini stripes always look good on white...and you could even do a Martini-style in monochrome (different shades of grey and black).

The great thing about the 924 is, you're unlikely to devalue it by personalizing it, and decals are non-destructive. I say go for it, and if you hate it, take it off and try again!

These guys have a really nice selection to give you some ideas:

Thanks, I'm afraid to pull the sticker off as it could lift the other one up too.

Thanks for the idea Ideola!

Excellent site for those decals. They have quite a selection and I may have to put in an order once I get the car running.
