Time: 12:37:11I've been testing the thermo time switch according to the Haynes manual and have read the FAQ on this site. Has anyone else ever run this test? Had any luck?
On mine, the test light does not go out after 3-10 seconds of cranking the engine. I've jumpered the connections on the CSV plug and have a test light hooked up to the two plugs that go to the thermo time switch. (The FAQ says there should be THREE wires to the thermo time switch but mine has only two.) Haynes says the light should go out after 3-10 seconds of cranking but mine stays on. I would think that if it stayed on, it would keep the CSV in the circuit when the car is hot and cause hot start problems. When the thermo time switch activates, it should cut the CSV out of the circuit, stopping the CSV from flooding the engine, right? Or do I have this all wrong? I've got a bad cold start problem and have checked/replaced the CSV and aux air regulator. This and the warm-up regulator are next on the list. Just wanted to see if anyone else has run across a faulty thero time switch before I order a new one.
Also, after about 5 seconds of cranking, I can hear the fuel pump stop running. I would think this would be normal since there's no reason for it to run after it's reached pressure and no fuel is going through the fuel distributor. The fuel pump continues to run only when the car is actually running. I can hear that.
Or have I been drinking too much malt liquor for breakfast again?
