Does anybody have a good one? These are NLA at the dealer, I checked stateside and in Europe. I suppose that eventually all 924/944 and 928 parts will go NLA.

Thanks,

JK

Is that a paper gaskset? I used loctite (518 or something similar, cant remember) instead of the paper gasket when I rebuilt my box. Works great, not a single drop has leaked through, cant say that about the original gasket

Has been NLA for some time. For a while, I was getting a kit from a specialty shop in California, but they too stopped making the G16/G31 seal kits. That particular paper gasket should be fairly easy to make with gasket paper, or you can use gasket maker stuff as well.

I wasn't sure on the stack up on the parts. I'm wondering if I can use the loctite sealant that the 996 use on the cam covers as this has more body than the 573.

I will have the last 2 syncro rings here next week.

I decided to replace the following:

dogs on 1st and 2nd
syncros on 1st, 2nd, 3rd
leave G31 5th in place
Take 5th syncro from 016Y and install onto 4th gear from 016Y that is going into G31

Personally I'd do 3rd dog as well, pretty much a full service already...
also check the shift sleeve between 2nd and 3rd, as this wears just as much as the dogs, I pulled mine apart again to replace this as I wasn't happy with the shift after doing the dogs/syncros alone...
When you have it apart could you please post a close up picture of your shift lever at the engaging end (the lever that engages the three shift rods/forks part 12)

I'd like to compare what mine was like to another
cheers

Where did you get the selector sleeves? Are these still available? I do have 2 boxes so we should be able to select the best parts I hope. This has been a real issue to track the parts down but not yet over the top. I have the 016Y all in pieces and will see what we run into on the G31.
