G'day all,

About 2 hours ago I bought my second ever 924 turbo off eBay, a silver 1980 model. It's a bit of a project that'll take a while to get right and i'll post pics and ask stupid questions along the way.

I previously owned a white '81 model that i regretted selling about 8 years ago.

Anyways, I just wanted to pop by and say a quick hello.

Hello, I'm picking up an '82 Turbo 924 on Sunday. She's beautiful but runs rough, looks like a clogged PCV valve and probably needs general tune up stuff. I'll have pix up soon and let you know how it goes, looking forward to getting to know folks!

Hey guys, just wanted to say hello. I picked up an '81 924 N/A last week and can't wait to get started on it. Couldn't be happier to finally have a Porsche in the stable.

She's not running and hasn't ran in several years, so...I've got my work cut out for me, but seems to be solid enough and the price was right. 98K on the clock, black interior.

Time is running out for working on the car in a cold garage in Chicago, but I've been putting together a parts list and a plan of attack. Before anything else the fuel tank will be drained and the fuel filter changed. I'll also be pulling the cam cover to put some fresh oil on the top end, and a bit into the cylinders, as well, before any attempts are made at starting.

If I can get a warm weekend day, that will happen soon. If not...just playing the waiting game until it warms up here. As it is, the engine turns freely by the crank bolt, fuel pump seems to prime with ign. on.

I've done my reading on the CIS system (I've worked with Bosch in the past, so I have a bit of an understanding). Main plan is to just get her running and driving well and enjoy it. I know the N/A isn't fast, but that's not why I bought it.

The EIS is disconnected and the unit appears to have been JB Welded (after being opened up?). Found the Model 81 Service Information Bulletin and that has also been helpful, but I'm sure s&%t will hit the fan once I get her running and start finding the bugs.

At any rate, any tips or tricks are more than welcome and I've got thick skin, so no kid gloves necessary ; ). I've got several questions, but I'll make sure to post them in the appropriate area when the time comes.

Here are a few pics (please excuse the low lighting)

Hello everyone.

I bought a 1978 924 with a turbo engine and 944 body.
I dont know if I did good or bad, I will see in the future..
it needs some paint, and some upholstery work, but the engine is freshly built original 931 engine with forged pistons and rods and a new 2.5" exhaust system.

I hope it doesnt kill me.
regards

I will post the pics after I take it out of the garage.
the car's k-jetronic system has a problem, 2nd injector spoils the fuel.
tomorrow it will be fixed (hopefully)
or, as a part of my job, start to turn it to standalone ecu project.

Hi all

My name's Peter and I'm looking to get into the 924 way of life, specifically to race historic production sports cars here in Australia.

I currently have a Skyline that's built for sprint events. She who must be obeyed has put her foot down and insisted no more cars for a little while, but I'll use the time to research the ideal build, and collect some bits and pieces ...

Group S here doesn't give much scope for mods (within the letter of the regs, anyway) so brakes, panels, block, K jet etc will be as per pre-1980. I'll be getting a snail-shell model, and the one area that's pretty free is internal engine, so the aim is to build up a 931 headed motor (no-one will tell the difference, right?!!) with flat tops, lightened crank etc. It'll probably be pretty close to a 924 D-production minus Kugelfischer.

The wheels are also pretty tightly controlled, so max size is 15x6. Anyone fitted Peugeot 206 wheels? Some of them look ok, especially the 9 spokes. Pretty difficult to find appropriate sixed 4x108 wheels here in Australia.

Anyway, just saying Hi. Now I'll get back to searching!

No one told you about the spark plug location yet? Opposite side…
Welcome aboard!

Hahaha that's quite different. Better though - intake side then right?

No-one meaning scrutineers/fellow competitors. I'll get a log book then install a new motor.

They'll just look at a POS 924 and laugh, until we get on track that is!
