Drove to town today. Got back home temp gauge is in the red. I had my eye on it most ot the trip because it was on the high side most of the time. I'm hoping it is just air in the system when I turned the engine off it sounded like bubbling in the hoses. No time to investigate today.

Bubbling noises always indicate a need to bleed the system.

+1 on a compression test.

I once threw a belt minutes from home in freezing temperatures. Car started to overheat. I figured since it was so cold outside it wouldn't be a big deal. When I got home I heard bubbling in the hoses as well. Long story short- It warped the head.

I have a spare head. I had told someone I was going to sell it to them but if my head is warped I might just have to piss someone off. Sorry

Most of the time the head can be machined back to specs.
