120 MPH in the 928 on this road. Confirmed the 928's well-deserved reputation for being under-braked in stock form!
Scared myself chitless while driving the 941 the day after acquiring it...Larry and I were talking away like two old biddies when I looked down and saw 115MPH indicated on the speedo somewhere in the Wyoming no-mans-land between SLC and Cheyenne. That's probably what cooked the bearings in the water pump, causing it to fail a few hours later, stranding us in the middle of Nebraska (Omaha crew to the rescue)!
I'm too afraid of other people doing stupid stuff to attempt anything more crazy than that on a public road. Was disappointed two years ago when they let our local PCA club do parade laps on MIS...but put a pace car out there which limited us to 90MPH I think the PCA has rules about parade laps, and I'm sure there's a liability issue, but on that big banked oval, it felt like 35MPH! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I've done about 120mph on a closed track (Pocono Raceway) at a DE event. That speed was confirmed by GPS data.
I've also gotten up to 116mph at NJ Motorsports Park. I don't have data to confirm that, but I hit the rev limiter in 4th gear 3/4 down the front straight of Thunderbolt! _________________ '87 924 S - No sunroof and a few modifications |

The fastest I've gone in the n/a was about 95 with two other full-sized passengers. That was dumb of me...

That's because you have an early 928 with the same brakes as a 931! Get a later S or the 4-piston brembos from an S4 and you wouldn't be saying that! _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 - sold

I've done 130kph according to the speedo going down Sir Betram Steven's Drive. Well, on the straight bits. On curves marked as 75kph I've done 90.
This is a two lane road through bush. There are no residences or businesses or any buildings for most of its length.

205 kph down Jervois Quay in Wellington and have a speed camera photo to back it up.
However it was during a support race for a Street race that used to be held in Wellington years ago. _________________ Remember a Porsche is not just for Christmas,

Beats me. . .my speedo only goes to 85!
In seriousness, I hit 6300 RPM in 5th in my buddy's Miata Chump Car. Buck thirty somethin', I'd wager (Spokane. . .loooooong straight). Also almost hit the limiter in 5th in my 924S at the Ridge, another hilariously long straightaway, with an "interesting" nut checker into T1 and T2. _________________ Toofah King Bad

171 km/h, last year on a stretch of road near where I live. And I have a piece of paper to prove it, given to me by a very irate gentlemen in a blue uniform.
For my efforts I was banned from driving for 6 months, told to pay a large fine and every where I now go, It seems to be with a police escort.
In my defence to you speed demons out there, I was only in 4th gear. |

+1, exactly the same speeds, although it was over the crest just before the Schwedencreuz turn at the Nurburgring
Havent driven so fast on the road, around 200 km/h ( speedo speed) with the n/a and turbo. Its much more fun on a narrow track though _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Being a law abiding citizen, have only had mine up to the legal freeway speed of 110Km/hr.
Feels good getting there from a standing start in less than 6 seconds but.
BTW, are all these claimed speeds just what an uncalibrated speedo shows or actual GPS speeds?
Speed camera pix is worth a thousand words at least John H. Maybe even worth loss of license, $Ks in fines and a months confiscation. Would love to see the picture if you could post it please. _________________ World`s quickest 924 2L slushbox

155 MPH on radar coming off the banking at Charlotte turn 4 back in 1986. That was in my NA 2 liter 911 Targa race car (no windshield). Last year I went back to Charlotte with my present 2.4 liter 911 coupe race car and only did 140 MPH at the same place. Today's engine is stock and down 25 HP from the Targa and has 37% more frontal area.
Hopefully, I'll get a chance to see what the 924 will do this year. _________________ 1979 924 NA race car H-Prod SCCA

210kph in my '85 Audi Coupe GT.
I was closing in on 105 in my old 914 1.7 down the back straight at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant.
When we get to the Glen this year I will have another number. LOL  _________________ Cheers;

What's the fastest you've gone? |
Once took the stock 924 on the German Autobahn up to 208 Km/h (no GPS).
Only for a short stretch, not flat out, since it wasn't close to home
Average cruising speed through Germany on long trips was
about 160 Km/h in fith gear and felt terrific for an old coupe
