Went over to the All Porsche Show held by the local PCA club. I was the ONLY 924 there. I see others around Minneapolis so I know you guys are out there. Did have one 924 guy ask me where I got parts or infor and pointed them to this board.

Anyway, lots of very cool 356s, including a Speedster. Also some very nice 912s which I like. Enjoyable except for the one old DB that had to tell me 924's were not real Porsches and Boxsters were "okay" but really just mass produced cars not up to Porsche standards. I also own a Boxster so he was two for two in pissing me off. Didn't ruin a nice day by starting an argument with that jackass.

Old D Bags might keep me away too. "Well this is a real size 12, I wonder if it would fit..." Oh...nevermind.

Got anymore pics?

Especially since for several years the 996 and 986 shared sheet metal, glass, headlights, and interiors....

Good move not letting him ruin your day. People like that are why I drove Datsuns for so long.
Even if he was right, I don't care if it is a "real" Porsche. Real drivers only care if it is a "real" sports car.

Sure, I have some more picture!

924S and 912. 912 was a really nice unrestored survivor with original paint.

356C – Really showroom.

Pair of sweet 356’s

I had one person tell me the 924 should have been a VW because they just robbed the VW parts bins for a drivetrain and suspension. Is it just me or does that argument actually validate the car as a true early Porsche?

I just missed you. I was in Roseville the weekend before...

That's why I like to point out my friends are impressed I have a Porsche. None of them care it's "just" a 924.

Wade.

Nice pics. Seems like they would have grouped the same cars together, but that may just be my OCD kicking in.

One could argue that the 912 was just a souped up Beetle, but I am one to avoid conflict, everyone has their own opinions.

The '24 should have been seen as the future of Porsche, a change in direction. Believe it or not, some people may not want a 911.

No 924 and 944 and maybe no Porsche today. They were able to manufacture and sell enough of these to keep the company alive so their engineers could continue to tinker with 911s for decades.

85% of the Porsches sold today are apparently not “real” Porsches because only 15% are 911's. The business folks know Porsche cannot live on 911’s alone regardless of what the car driver magazine snobs think about the Cayennes that keep Porsche in business.
