I would like the feel of a momo, without paying 250+..........
What do you guys use? Anyone know of any nice options out there?
I will not purchase a Grant...
The stock wheel in my 79 is ok, but I would like something a wee bit newer, as it is a little worn from age. _________________ 1979 924

Buy a kit and recover with leather? Or perhaps a 911 wheel from the salvage yard? _________________ Toofah King Bad

Search online for Momo and Lecarra, buy one used for a decent price. Spend all your money on the stupid expensive Momo 6-bolt adapter.
Don't go too small unless you've got strong arms (or want stronger arms)
I have a Lecarra and I like it a lot and I've had a number of Grant wheels, which I've also mostly liked, just don't buy from the cheap end of their brand and it is a good solution. _________________ Stefan

BTW, they make Porsche horn buttons for most of the common aftermarket wheels.
Search around and you'll find some.
Since some of the 911 wheels will fit, you may find some interesting take-offs from 911 folks. _________________ Stefan

Lets see…
Would this be cheap enough?
Incase you didn't know already the Vdub Mk1 Scirocco steering wheel will fit the transaxle cars.
I went for the Porsche (928) 4-spoke leather steering wheel that is slightly smaller then stock.

That 4-spoke OEM version did come in some of the 924/931 models...I believe it was either an option or possible available with the M471 package (not sure, just speculation on my part). I think I even have one still from my 1981 Euro 931 (which I've replaced with a Momo Corse wheel).
I've never understood the stigma associated with Grant. I've had one in my NA since 2004. It's inexpensive, has held up well to daily driving, looks great, and feels great. In my opinion, it's a great option to consider, and is about as inexpensive as you can get. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I was told they do the opposite of this. This is food for thought, im going to look into it a bit more. _________________ 1979 924

both of my grant rubber grip wheels held up really well. one I got used from a 74 super beetle and now has 75k miles on it! only signs of use is the rubber is worn a bit and lost some of the bumpy texture, but it's not falling apart or anything... _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

Maybe I will grab a grant then.
The price is very affordable, and I have seen some nice designs online that I like.
Would i be able to get a Porsche horn button for it? _________________ 1979 924

Who has the best pricing for the Grant?
I would like a slightly smaller wheel for leg room, but don't wan't to go to small, although my '87 has power steering.
Any advice? _________________ Mark

Two MOMO options that I find are the most appropriate for a 924 are Prototipo and Cavallino. I know that the numbers are against you over in America, but you should try sourcing cheap Prototipos from old FIATs and Cavallinos from old VWs.
Mk1 and early mk2 Rabbit/Jetta use the same wheel hub adapter as a 924. I managed to get a wheel together with hub and horn button for around 50$ just because it said VW on the horn button. _________________ 1984 924 2.0 NA |

This is very interesting. You can find these steering wheels for pretty cheap. Since they are suppose to be the 'Sports Option' steering wheel, are they leather wrapped? The little Wolfsburg logo in there looks a bit strange, especially if it were to be found on a Porsche car _________________ Brian
