Looks like we have a winner (at the moment anyways)!

I dont know what cleared up the problem in all honesty, but I put "dry gas" in the tank & added 5 gallons of 91 octane gas, checked & cleaned the ignition coil & I was still getting the same problem. Then after giving the fuel mixture adjustment a quarter turn clockwise, she cleared her throat & didnt miss a beat. The car still smells like it is running a little rich, but at the moment the throttle response is perfect!

I will need to get it hooked upto a gas analizer soon & see what the O2 Levels look like. Im affraid this will put me back to square one though if it needs to be tuned down becasue en-richening the fuel mixture is what got the car to run perfect (it still sputters a little when you first start it, but it clears right up. I may need to check the cold start valve).

I moved onto the interior & spent three hours tearing the dash out & re-wiring things. At some point in the cars life, someone stuck about 25 feet of extra wire in the dash. There were wires spliced into the fuse/relay box going every which way...WHAT A MESS!

I will post some pictures soon too....

glad to hear it is running good, hope it does't have to be turned down and stop running properly,

""At some point in the cars life, someone stuck about 25 feet of extra wire in the dash.""

hehehe..

When I pulled out the old stereo (not original), the wire just kept on coming. It would have been funny if it weren't such a mess. In some cases, the wiring didn't make any sense. The power antenna wire was spliced into the power source etc (I guess they figured it had to go somewhere).

Well, Im sure it is going to run like crap again as soon as I get it checked. But I wont settle for this car to run like anything short of a high powered sewing machine!! And the mixture is obviously off for one reason or another... But I will get to the bottom of it....
