I have red nearly all the jacking posts but
I still do not understand how to jack up the front of the car.
Jack point is clear: center of the cross member

But, then you will need a very low and long 'as in low over a very large part
of the jack body' jack to reach underneath the front valance. If you can find one that long and low, those very low jacks are much more expensive than quality 'regular' jacks.

The Haynes says to use a garage jack under the point where the scissor jack for tire changes attaches. Is it possible to jack up the left side, put a jack stand under the forward part of the left longitudinal box section, lower the jack and then raise the complete right hand side and put a jack stand under the right longitudinal box section?

Cheers,
Duncan

Drive the car onto a couple of blocks of wood to lift the nose up around 100 - 150mm. Will give you enough clearance to use a regular trolley jack on the front cross member.

Do the same for the rear and jack up using the gearbox. Make sure you use some wood to protect the gearbox from the metal cup on the jack.

For me it's always been a two person job. Someone lifts up on the front bumper so I can slide the jack (with wood block on it) underneath the cross member. Usually it only needs to be lifted a couple cm's, so it's not like you need a hulk to lift on the car.

Thanks gentlemen,

The standard jack I am looking at has a minimum height of 140mm.

I usually don't bother and just do one side at a time and depending on what I want to do, I'll put a single jackstand up front or two per side.

Much easier than trying to fit the jack under the nose, etc.

Like Carrera RSR said, you need to drive up on a couple blocks of wood then jack up. I've actually got some ramps that I use. If I don't need the wheels off thats all I need, if the wheels need to come off, it's easy to get to the jack point and throw some stands under there.

if i need the entire car up on jack stands I jack the car up on the location that the scissor jack(the one in the trunk) uses. This point is under the car in the middle of the door section. Since the weight distribution is almost 50/50 the front and back lift up almost evenly. Once up I put jack stands under the car and lower it. Since I lowered the back end and use the weltmiester 250 springs I can barely get the jack under the car. Usually I drive up on some wood to lift the car a couple cm's.

Yes. I have done exactly this.

Wade.

If I just want the front up I do the same as the manual says, but I normally just put the whole thing up.
