I'm having the biggest problem replacing the belts. I've never had a problem doing this on any other car I've owned. I've loosened to the tension to the max...and I can't get the belts to slide off. Can someone please tell me what I'm missing?

I know this doesn't help you in getting the new belts on,
but I cut the old belts off when I did my Subaru with some wire cutters. Saves time wrestling them off and you're throwing them away anyways.
I haven't changed the belt yet on my '77, the air pump belt was off when I got it and then I removed the air pump and etc attached to it. _________________ 1977 924na BlackSeaRD.com Torque Tube SuperBearings, Xenon air dam, 200# Weltmeister springs, Bursch header, 944 exhaust, Audi throttle body |

I ended up cutting the alternator belt. I know I could muscle the air pump belt off, but my main concern is wondering how on earth I'll get a new one on with this much trouble getting a loose ass belt off. _________________ 1979 924 Sebring Edition, "Claire" |

You can take the water pump pulley off to get the alternator belt of and on. It's 3 bolts. _________________ 1980 924 NA

After screwing with it for hours, I pretty much came to the conclusion the previous owner dicked around with the adjustment lever. I'm going to take it to get re-welded longer so I never have to deal with this bullshit again lol. _________________ 1979 924 Sebring Edition, "Claire" |
