I'll weigh in on this, being a born and bred Brisbanite...
Brisbane cops are the most useless sacks of sh*t on the planet. The only, only thing they do is sit around busting people for technicalities like, for example, going 3.6 metres per second faster than an arbitrarily "safe" 17 metres per second. Circumstances/conditions are irrelevant (except if you're a member of the police or a judge). This is their entire life. It's what they exist for. And they have a massive collection of unthinking, uncaring machines to measure and capture this aberrant (abhorrent?) behaviour and automatically criminalise you. You think where you live is a Nanny State? Brisbane has you beat, hands down.
Rant over.
Unfortunately, the only way around it is to become the person in power and repeal their powers... or play by their rules.
So I actually agree (in a roundabout, sorta, not really way) with 924 sport. Go with Option 1, I say. And don't "speed". It's just that simple. Well, don't speed and don't draw attention to yourself, and they have no reason, no ability, to do anything to you.
I realise this might mean that you have to drive at the same pace as all those Camrys, with your cap on the correct way and without the stereo turned up to 11, shaking the neighbours windows. This may well be nigh on impossible for you
Also, consider the legal implications of the two options. I certainly don't know what they are but having a previously suspended licence could have caused me problems getting a Canadian (B.C.) licence, for example. Or driving in The 'States, etc. One option might be better than another purely on legal technicalities... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Im with Datatrain on this issue,(been there & have done both)
in dealing with the equivalent laws here in the states.
Driving is big enough
4 us all, sbarc has a mischievous. way to go to.
Chillin 9not driven) takes 4 ever though it may get you on track.
Traffic cams have to be adjusted to make sure they
take the pic at the right time it has a cost just like
syncroing traffic lights. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

Go with option #1,
And in the night go out and destroy all the cameras you can find.....
In all seriousness, these laws are stupid. In the city, and heavily populated areas yes one should not be speeding. But on the freeway, this is another story. _________________ 3 928s, |

Take the 12 months with one point. (i didn't even realise they gave you one point, so thats a new one on me.) If my Old man can make it through 12 months without losing a point, anyone can.
I'm surprised I havent got more points here in brisbane. I'm out moggill road, and there are bloody speedcameras every single day, in the stupidist places.
good luck _________________ 1978 924 N/A

good luck | My point exactly...I live and drive on mogill road everyday! i went years without losing a point, i have noticed i drive almost all day everyday so odds of something happening increase, just need to slow down

agreed, I tend to get done on main road on the outer suburbs ( where highways meet suburban) but never go fast through suburbs.

The police here have a great habit of going out of their way to catch people, They make alot of money (revenue raising off it)
Fixed speed camera car getting say 10 people an hour makes it 2000- 3000 an hour....operate it ten hours a day in different spots thats close to $30,000 a day, so the car and operator pays itself (and the operators yearly wages ) off within a week!!
Ill definately be NOT driving my car registered in my name. If the only time i got pulled over was a fine from a fixed speed camera i could have had someone else take the points!!...irony- If this happened 4 dfays later on the 20th Dec i would have just had my first set of points dissapear(after being on my license for 3 years) and wouldnt be in this mess......4 Days -- gotta laugh!! _________________ 1979 NA

And here's something to lighten your mood: In a 924 I don't rate your chances, but in a Lambo it seems you can actually outrun the cops... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

4 days. hmmm. the points dont go on you license until you pay the fine. so can you avoid paying and cop the extra little bit for paying late.
I've heard of a few people who just managed to not lose licenses because they paid fines late. _________________ 1978 924 N/A

I've heard of a few people who just managed to not lose licenses because they paid fines late. | genius!! This just might work!! The original fine was 20 nov 2007 and payment was 28 dec 2007 so technically if I hold off paying till 28th dec then original points may be removed before new one are put on!!!! I wonder if this will work and if the points will automatically disappear off your history on the 'fine' day or the 'payment' for the fine day???? _________________ 1979 NA

even better, write a cheque, put it in the slowest mail you can manage somewhere near christmas, as long as its postmarked by the due date of the fine. Theres no way they will deposit it before the 4th when the banks open. and a couple of days for the cheque to clear....
I have no idea if any of these things will work, but I hate to make it easy for the coppers.

cheers | Paying a late
Fee isn't a problem for me, it's nothing compared to getting my license suspended. Writing a letter that gets rejected may buy me sometime , I wonder if when the
Points are removed its straight away or wether they will get removed then reinstated when this new fine goes through _________________ 1979 NA

Sorry scorpio, I may have upped your hopes
http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/Licensing/Licence-demerit-points.aspx
seems the points are allocated to the day you got the fine, but only after you pay the fine. I have no idea how they calculate whether you should have had more than 12 points if other fines are coming off between the offence and the time you pay. _________________ 1978 924 N/A

Ask for a work place license, not sure what it is called but knowing where you work you may be able to get your Boss / Government department to give you a letter.
Pity it wasnt in the Porsche you could have asked for a review as it probaly is in MPH not KLM ???
It must have been on that big hill on the way to your place .
It may be safe now to bring mine over to get the kit on, you wont be able to take it for a test drive
I would go for the three months , it will be over in no time.

scorps, 3 months goes pretty quick, bite the bullet get it out of the way, it's the drinking season and your's going to be on public transport with the other party heads, makes for some interesting entertainment...
I went the 12 month route, having got boned when they changed all the speed limits from 60 to 50 in the CBD in melb a few years back, imagine my suprise getting 2 in the same day at 61kms/hr.
those fines burn deeps.
