so I re timed the 80 and while driveability improved, im still having the same problem. Ill be driving and the car is doing beautifully. then 10 mins later it will start sputtering at throttle like its starving. . . vaccuum advance perhaps? CIS improperly adjusted. am I running too lean and its screwing me at running temp? any help as the car finally running great but this is keeping me from having a great driving experience. thanks.

Sounds like a fuel pump, or fuel filter. Here is an inexpensive source for fuel pumps from ebay;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220558304979&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%253AMEWAX%253AIT

I bought one for Big Red, but don't have any idea how long it will last, but it looks just like the Bosch pump without the name stamped on the side.

ok. I installed a temp guage about 2 weeks ago and while installing the sensor I must have knocked the lead off the stock sensor. I noticed the sputtering had started lightly after the install and gradually grew worse. upon re affixing the lead the sputtering started to weaken and after a day is almost completely gone. . . wierd right?
