Shamelessly copied from another forum, what do we think about a stupid question amnesty for all those daft questions you were afraid to ask?
Rules are simple - must be at least vaguely relevant to the 924 and no one is to be ridiculed on here. If you have nothing constructive to add - don't.

Thick green is the VR sensor in the Dizzy MS will not need it if you are using a crank trigger.
It is however co-ax so would make a good wire to use for your crank sender to reduce noise, rip it out and use it.
I ripped it out of my old car on MS. _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...

For a 78 car apparently.
Looks like:
Ground
+12
Tach/Coil
Later cars might have different connections. The box just acts as the 'points' for the dizzy so it's not that special/complex.
Remove/rewire as appropriate. I'd not cut them but pull them out form the main loom in the car. _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...

ok here is my contribution.
Is there a tool for adjusting the washer jets for the headlights. I need something that can do the job without marking them?
Also, are the metal headlight covers the same shape for the 924 and 951?
my 924 ones never fit the holes in my 951 body work (wings / fiberglass nose panel / bumper) that perfectly. They will do (fit flush etc) but they do not have completely parallel shut lines all the way around the covers. the lines along the front taper slightly.
And, i have some sort of electrical in line temp sensor in the narrow heater hose by the bulkhead / WUR / coil area. It is not on the wiring diagrams for the year of my car and on the parts list it is listed as a vacuum switch not an electrical switch Never tried disconnecting it though. _________________ 924 (84) N/A 2 ltr - 5 Speed - BLACK - Project (looking for 200BHP, any ideas!)

Ok, firstly my car has no computer as it is a 1984 924N/A and secondly the advance retard is done via a vac line that goes directly between the dizzy and the TB.
The parts list says it should be a Vac Temp Sensor but it isn't. Its electrical
Also the parts list does not say where it should connect _________________ 924 (84) N/A 2 ltr - 5 Speed - BLACK - Project (looking for 200BHP, any ideas!)

They are very stiff - I believe there was a tool but I used a screwdriver that fitted in the slot, not great but it worked...

It's a temp switch for the extra solenoid valve on the CIS IIRC, it to do with cold starting control pressures. The solenoid is the vertical cylinder bolted to the side of the fuel dizzy. _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...

Thanks, that makes scene. Never had a cold start prob so have I never been there.
Anyway, thats all the stupid stuff i can think of for now (i think). other than why did Porsche design the electrics so that the brakelights work when you press the pedal without the ignition on, but the horn does not?????? _________________ 924 (84) N/A 2 ltr - 5 Speed - BLACK - Project (looking for 200BHP, any ideas!)

If I read the wiring diagram right, when the ignition and the lights are off, the blinker stalk will turn on the left or right front parking lights. But on my car, either direction turns on both parking lights. Is this correct?
No, I don't have an owner's manual. The PO didn't have it.

No, they have slightly different dimensions, not far enough for them not to work, but enough to bug you if stare at them for a minute... _________________ Eric

I use a straight pin to adjust the washer nozzles. Just insert it and use it lever the nozzle into position. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"
