I've got a fuel pump that has been sitting around in sour gas for about 2 years. Today I tried it and it is all gummed up, I can feel he pump trying but I think the gas has jelled up in there and is holding the pump. Does anyone know of something that I can put into it to maybe dissolve some of the jelled up gas or to just loosen the pump up. Right now I have it soaking in fuel injector cleaner. Trying to avoid spending $400 for a new pump.

Thanks

I have the same problem. I don't know of anything that you can use to get it unstuck. I noticed on mine there seems to be 4 plugs on one end of the pump I'm geussing that the screws to take it apart are under them so you might be able to take it apart and clean it.

If you can't get it to work Performance Products had rebuilt fuel pumps for alot less than new.

Hope this helps.

Yes, you can to some degree disassemble them for cleaning... no guarantee it'll still work, naturally, but it's worth a shot given the price...

Mine is a real pain, I think it's the original form the factory so there are no screws holding it together, the metal houseing is crimped on. But I talked to some people and apparently acetone should dissolve the gummed up gas, you should be able to get it at any harware store. Just put it in and let it soak
