My 1979 924 was beaned by a Neon. While turning left each car was assumed to stay in each left turn lane such that they turned in parallel. The Neon entered my lane and beaned the car with its bumper and wheel such that it hit my wheel, right front quarter panel and door. The hit was most pronounced at the hinge of the door, a circle with an 8" radius from midway down the door would hold most of the 4" depression. My question is this: Now that the insurance appraiser is on the scene, I have checked the car and noticed only a slight alteration in the gap at the right rear bumper. The left side of the rear bumper holds a 1/4" gap, whereas on the right side the gap is almost 3/8" to 1/2". What tools or procedures should be used by the insurance company to check for frame damage or straightening? What measures will tell me what is going on with the car?
Facts: No glass was broken, even inside the door. No warpage on the hood or ceiling of the car. The lights open and close. The door opens and closes. The car drives with need of slight alignment. Help. Thanks.
