First off, I CAN'T FRICKIN' BELIEVE that you are considering hiring a lawyer for this, especially since you are a criminology major and have been quoted as saying:
| Quote: | I"m a criminology major so I know how fked up the justice system is.
people get a slap on the wrist all the time for serious crimes and then somene else might get a serious sentence for a minor crime. Your sentence really depends on how much money your have... more money = you can afford a better lawyer.
I'm looking for a lawyer right now going to talk to some to get an opinion of what I can expect. |
I'm not an attorney, but my step father is. When I got in my first car accident at the age of 16, I totaled my brothers car (1985 Chevy Spectrum) and it was technically my fault. My step-father took me to the library and handed me a yellow note pad (legal sized of course), a copy of my traffic ticket and said, "I'll be back in two hours, I want to hear your side of the story" and then pointed me to the big thick books that had "Maryland State Motor Vehicle Legislation" printed on the binder. Two weeks later, I was in court and won the case.
But, the fact that you do not want to or do not have the confidence to represent yourself doesn't at all surprise me when you have been quoted to have said:
| Quote: | | I only took criminology because it's a fairly easy major and I can get high grades so I can get into lawschool. |
So you are going to be a C grade law school graduate (huge assumption on the graduate part). Take a snap shot of the current U.S. President, George W. Bush, and how he looks to the world right now because that is how you are going to look in the court room when you show up to represent someone.
And this statement if just absurd:
| Quote: | | I will obey the limits until I get my full license and buy a good radar detector. | nothing to say....
As a wanna be attorney, get used to this statement: "where is the evidence to support the following statement you made",
| Quote: | | a very small percentage if crashes occur on freeways and most crashes are not high speed crashes. Most accidents and fatalities occur in intersections and city streets caused by people blowing by red lights, stop signs etc. Speeding on an open stretch of freeway is not necessarily wreckless it's just illegal. And by speeding I don't mean going 200 mph and talking on your cell phone while changing lanes. |
Wreckless is subjective, and the law is clear on where it draws the line on what wreckless is [me pointing to those thick books referenced earlier].
To set the record straight, here are the leading causes of car accidents:
- Rubbernecking
- Cell phones
- Driver fatigue
- Passenger distractions
- Looking at scenery
- Adjusting the radio
re: http://www.legalmatch.com/law-library/article/common-causes-of-car-accidents.html
(granted, they don't cite theirs, but at least I cite mine)
Nowhere do I see blowing stop signs, signal lights, etc. because they are called indirect causes - blowing a stop sign results from your boy friend blowing you (for example). Here is an article highlighting more direct causes of accidents - like reckless and negligent driving (passing someone at 10km/h when they are doing the speed limit), alcohol, inexperience (how many years do you have under your belt) coupled with irresponsible behavior (speeding) and a lack of respect the safety precautions (speed limits), inattentiveness (starring at a radar detector), and more.
http://ezinearticles.com/?Car-Accident-Statistics&id=125450
This thread, along with all the others here, will surely be accessible should anyone ever need to dig up proof of your blatant incompetence - that's the only (and I mean only) satisfaction I get out of submitting my thoughts. _________________ 924.org (no time to complete)

I'm starting to doubt that Timstar is a real person. Maybe it is all the My924gtc/ESC944/Housebrown crap that has been going on, but I think Timstar is someone else's secret identity. I mean, Lizard is the only person who has seen Timstar in the flesh, so maybe Timstar is one of Lizard's multiple personalities? I just can't believe Timstar is real. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

It's clear our only coarse of action is to throw Lizard in a pond and see if he floats.

@last four posts - lmfao - what a good laugh. I think you're on to something Chrenan. Although I must say, anyone I know would have to work AWFULLY hard to be that ignorant - I mean I cannot fathom putting on a convincing argument - well, maybe if I was high all the time.

lol this is funny, everyone here loves bashing me like they are all perfect and would never do something horrible like this.
If bashing people on the internet makes you feel cool then I'm not going to even bother replying.
I have disputed all 4 tickets and will get a court date in the mail. I will be looking for the best lawyer I can find until then. _________________ 78 924 sold.

I have disputed all 4 tickets and will get a court date in the mail. I will be looking for the best lawyer I can find until then. | Whether or not that's is a half witted stab at me doesn't bother me one bit. Everyone makes mistakes - I've even shared one of mine to illustrate just the opposite of what you assume - that others here act "like they are all perfect". None of us are and I feel comfortable saying that 99% of the folks in this community will own that. But time, after time, after time, after time, you have come here and volunteered your mistakes and misfortune but have YET to demonstrate to ANYONE that you are capable of change. So forgive me/us if bashing you is what it is perceived as when 90% of the time EVERYTHING offered in return has been good, solid advise that has been thrown out the window. You're worse than the The Boy Who Cried Wolf because he eventually learned.
This latest situation is no different. Tons of people have advised against getting a lawyer for this case yet you intend to go do it. Tons of folks have suggested owning up to the fact that even you admit to being guilty, yet you insist on fighting it to win. Its "Timstar" all over again and its no wonder that I/we do "bash" you - it a simple and common behavior for anyone who is talking to a wall.
So, once again:

If he is truly good, he will be telling you to pull your head out of your ass and try to get some charges dismissed in return for taking responsibility (without excuses) to some others.
But you will refuse to follow his advice, and suffer a far worse penalty.

If some one here got the tickets you got, they would start by paying them and not getting into that situation again.
You've already said that you will continue to speed.
We can't help you with statements like that Tim. |
