Guy's,

Has anyone had any dealings with GT Racing? This is the company that makes the Porsche bodypanels, based in Colorado. Good/Bad/Interesting???

No, but it always seems that when body kits come up, it has been referenced. It definately looks legit to me.

I guess what i meant was more in terms of the quality of their products. They are definately a straight up company, but i am loathed to spend good money only to find the kit looks like a junior school art project

Do a search, it seems that I have read some complaints about their quality control for Carerra parts.

There have been some threads about GT Racing on rennlist recently - the conclusion seems to be that the parts don't fit very well & are heavy. there might be better options out there.

Thanks, Seems quite interesting.
The reason i ask is that i have the chance to aquire a very good shell, non sunroof, and was thinking of going the whole hog and doing a full GTR kit. LeMans box rears, the works.
Vaughan, how does the fit and finish of the kit you have look?

The GT light kit I got that came from them is a POS! Poorly built, nothing lines up... still trying to figure out whether to put the pop-ups back in...

WAIT.

Fiberglass panels no matter how long have a tendancy to shift or warp. My rear quarters fit okay. At least the right rear. The left rear needed some work. First of all the 1 1/2 in piece that goes all along the inside of the flares needs to be worked on. These pieces are fibergalassed to the exterior piece. Sometimes a worker may get too lax and lay less or more glass and therefore makes the piece more or less bulky. When fitting the flares you have to sand and adjust the part to fit. If you live gaps then you have to fill them in prior to painting and after they are put on. Not difficult. DO NOT try to bend them into shape. You will get stree cracks later. You will perform this bolt on only once so do it right. To insure that thet will not seperate in the future I two part epoxied them on. Lined them up and drilled though the fiberglass and the body at the same time. Applied the epoxy and put in screws. Note .......the holes were such that the flare side was larger than the ones on the backing. After the epoxy and the bolts put in I filled in the exterior holes. In this way the screw heads cannot be seen.

Before all of this was done I laid up multiple layers of fiberglass in the inside creases and on the inside of the flares. I wanted to make the flares stronger. Weight was not a concern.

If anyone has questions let me know. When painting do not use a lot of high build primer as it will crack. Fill with fiberglass and sand it.

I think what I hear about GT-Racing that most of there panels are "race quality" meaning not show car quality for the street..

I have not had a chance to see the quality of their products first hand,
I remember seeing a few comments on their items but unfortunately cannot remember if it was good or bad..

Another company that seems to have high quality products is porsche palace

They also build quite a few top quality customs so they have a good idea on what they are doing..
