I've read about the wastegate mod which uses a different spring and diaphram to increase boot up to 8 or so. Whats a source for these parts?

diaphragm is the same, spring update is a 930 unit, from .7 bar to 1.2 bar . i stuck in a 1.1 bar spring , but without other upgrades like an Intercooler or water injection, its pretty much over kill as i have to keep the boost dialed down. i can easily hit the boost cutoff at 25 psi, i tried to keep it below 17psi. since stock boost is 7psi... its a rush. after the rebuild i will probably keep it at a much more conservative 10-12 psi. i wasnt to worried about blowing anything up before, needed a rebuild anyhow. on a fresh engine ill just have to learn to be a bit more responsible in my boost usage

I got my parts from Andial, however they may be more difficult to source, these items are getting harder and harder to find.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of limiting the mod to a stiffer srping. I'll check out Andial though.

back to 924 guy - so if I check out a diaphragm and 1.0 spring for a 930 wastegate, they will fit the wastegate in my 82-924? I see lots of available parts for the 930.

It's the same wastegate as a 930, but a 1 bar spring is too much for a stock 931.

Paul is right. Without a IC or water injection, 1 bar is definitely pushing it. On hot days, it is doubtful that you'll be able run boost that high without the risk of engine damage.

You might consider a variable boost controller, then you have some control over boost limit. There are some cost effective options for you. Take a look at the following thread if you are interested, it talks about several options.

short answer, yes. i think the gaskets are 930 p/n's as well, but verify.

but again, get a good quality BC if your going to run a higher spring rate....
