Welcome to the board, congrats on the 931!
To best help you please add at least the country you are from to your profile.
Let's start with the most common problem, air leaks. Carefully check all the hoses and connections in the intake system (from the air cleaner to the cylinder head). _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

I have checked all the conections and have replaced some cracked hoses, when i get it to run it sounds like there is an exuast leak, but i didn't think it would cause it to have no throttle an run at a high rpm.
oh and my car is 924 turbo not a 931, im guessing it has the same engine? |

The 924 Turbo was model number 931 just like the 911 Turbo was model number 930 and the Boxster is model 986, etc.....
Have you tried to adjust the idle speed and the ignition timing?
Are you sure there's no leaks in the metal duct that runs from the turbo to the throttle body? No leaks in the rubber hose that attaches from bottom of the fuel dizzy to the top of the turbo's compressor? _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

| Checked hoses and found the one between the fuel dist to compressor hose clamp was loose. fixed that its easier to start but still runs at high rpm, when you open the throttle it chokes down a little. Is theree an o ring were the ducting is joined to the turbo? Also the tach is not working don't know if this would afect it or not? When i got it it had been sitting for a while and all the fuse holders where oxidized, i don't know if the connections on the instraments also need cleaning. |

yes it has an o ring, have played with the timing, the idle ajustment is all the way out asumming you mean the adjustment on the throttle body where the throttle cable connects.
anyone got an intake to convert to a 350 holley |

Ok, let's try to find some more intake leaks by using a spray bottle full of water.
Spray the water and listen for the RPMs to change.
I assume your throttle cable is adjusted properly and is not holding the throttle open.
BTW the idle bypass screw should be turned in to decrease the idle.
The next thing to check will be the brake booster and the anti backfire valve for leaks. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"
