An "SUV" (but for a marketers whim, previously known as a "light truck") just got voted "car" of the year by our most highly respected motoring magazine (no, not Fast Fours'n Rotary's)
You Yanks must stop this. NOW!
Trucks are NOT cars. They do not go, stop or turn.
If my city becomes clogged with these, I will hold the Yanks personally responsible!
What ever happened to people liking cars
Must I be forced to drive an "SUV" (yep, you Yanks came up with that term, too), just so that I can, in the words of Jonathan Hawley, in case of a collision "be looking more like a survivor in the Territory than a damn fool."?
Makes me sick... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I wonder which came first
The British Range Rover
or the Jeep Cherokee
BOTH ARE SUVs! |

You got me there, Paul!
In fact, this very magazine of which I speak blamed the current SUV trend on the Range Rover!
I hereby apologise
Still, it's a wank of epic proportions

BTW a Porsche Cayenne Turbo (an SUV) turned in a better time at Nurburing than a Boxster when Porsche was testing the pepper. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Stop making sense, you're ruining my rant
OK, a Ford Territoy wishes it was a Porsche Cayenne. Besides, plenty of cars would turn a better a time at the 'ring than a Boxster (which I would still prefer over a Cayenne) _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

The Chili Pepper is an absolute POS on the track, IMO - the X5 is much better and more driveable (though not without it's own inadequacies). The only thing that makes the Chili Pepper fast on laps is its engine. Pretty sad for a Porsche. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Take a look at the new pickup being offered by International. It comes with air brakes. Just wait a few more years and there will be full size semi trucks being used as grocery getters.

The Porsche Cayenne could be made to go a lot faster on the track.
Here's how:
Give it a turbo-charged engine, put it in the back, have it drive just the back wheels, lower the suspension several feet, take out at least two rows of back seats, give it a streamlined coupe body and call it a 911!
That should put the "S in "SUV" (who needs the "U anyway?) _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

In my world you would need a special license to own and drive a SUV or truck. I have a reason for mine, 9 out of 10 don't.
In Okie world, 1 ton duallies are the grocery getters, driven by women and city cowboys and occasionally pull the pontoon boat to the lake.
Funny thing is seeing a 4X4 extended dualie crusin at 90 down the expressway, they drive em like cars around here. Being in a Porsche is a liability anymore....
