I wanted to post it here first.....1979 924...dololmite grey metallic....in very good shape....interior has only 1 hole in seat.....seats were redone last summer and since there is one hole in side if backrest...new black mats with red "PORSCHE"....new dash cover (not carpet)...new water pump....new wires...new plugs...new distributor cap and rotor....fresh oil change (20/50)...new Blaupunkt CD....almost new tires (85 % tread left)...interior is great....exterior has original paint with some stone chips and a few little dings but looks good.....front cowling has a small spot of rust and front spoiler is a little dented from curb but the bra covers all this very nicely (silver "PORSCHE" lettering on bra).....car runs great and the snailshell 5 speed shifts smooth....great top end....I am going to put a new muffler on it this week....probably aftermarket with empty cat.....130,000 something miles....odometer replaced.....everything works but AC......
I am also going to let the guys over at Rennlist know about this car....If no one is interested I am going to list it on Ebay in a few days.....I love this car and drive it every weekend....reason for selling is... I found a 944 that I want to restore over the winter....
I need to get $2500 out of her.....she is worth it.....I will take some pictures and if I can figure out how to post them here I'll get them up in the next day or 2.....meanwhile she is in my avatar......"Missy" _________________ 79 924 "Missy Grey" |

You should let people know that you've got the car for sale on eBay.
If you're taking suggestions, I'd take as many digital pictures and post them somewhere, then add the link to your eBay auction. $2500 for a 924 is quite expensive, so you really need to justify it by giving as much info about the car as possible. Good pictures are an absolute necessity for successfully selling a car on eBay. _________________ Jon Furst |

wow... nice car. 2000 miles closer, and $750 cheaper and you would have yourself a deal.
I made an offer on a local '77 924 with a wide-body kit and new rims... nice car. The owner wanted $3000 for it though.... AND IT DIDN'T EVEN RUN! Insane.
I think bluebook for a pre-1980 924 in running condition is right in the neighborhood of $2,000. If the body and paint are perfect, that adds significantly to the value of the car, bringing it to around $2750. |

That's retail. At a dealer you would pay more. Besides NADA is crap. So is Kelly Bule Book. They have inflated prices to benifit the dealers. When you go to a dealer and there is a 78 924 bone stock for 5 grand, he can flip through the book and say "see? 5 grand" and we all know in a private sale you can pick one up for a 1/4 of that price. Go get a VMR book. It has "real" prices. Although some of their books only go back to 1988. They are not sold in Canada anymore. www.vmrintl.com www.vmrintl.com/cctm/coll_frame.htm
I rate my car as a 3. You rate yours.
#1 Excellent: A close to perfect original or a very well restored vehicle. Generally a body-off restoration, but a well done body-on restoration that has been fully detailed may qualify. The vehicle is stunning to look at and any flaws are trivial and not readily apparent. Everything works as new. All equipment is original, NOS, or excellent quality reproductions. Note: This is NOT a 100 point trailered show car. See show car description in How to Use section.
#2 Very Good: An extremely presentable vehicle showing minimal wear, or a well restored vehicle. Runs and drives smooth and tight. Needs no mechanical or cosmetic work. All areas (chassis not required, but may be) have been fully detailed. Beautiful to look at but clearly below a #1 vehicle.
#3 Good: Presentable inside and out with some signs of wear. Not detailed but very clean. Body should be straight and solid with no apparent rust and absolutely no rust-through anywhere. Shiny, attractive paint but may have evidence of minor fading or checking or other imperfections. Runs and drives well. May need some minor mechanical or cosmetic work but is fully usable and enjoyable as is.
#4 Fair: runs and drives OK but needs work throughout the vehicle. Body shows signs of wear or previous restoration work. Any rust should be minimal and not in any structural areas. Cosmetics, body, and mechanics all need work to some degree.
#5 Poor: In need of complete restoration, but is complete and not a rust bucket beyond repair. May or may not run and drive. Not roadworthy.
Parts or Salvage: Incomplete vehicle most useful for parts. Generally, take 40-50% of the #5 value.
#1~5,125US
#2~3,950US
#3~2,600US
#4~1,500US
#5~675US

| Say what???? The interiors on the top 2 are pretty good. And the body on them are great. That $400 one is a little crappy but what car can you get for $400 running? Those are good deals in my books. |
