It's official, they're up:

Remember, this will be a preliminary season, to gather data, so we can reassess weights and competitiveness for 2004 when we run a full points season.

What are the IT rules relative to tire/wheel size. Stock diameter? What about width? Thanks.

ITS, ITA stock diameter, 7" width max
ITB, ITC stock diameter, 6" width max

12" diameter can upgrade to 13"

OK, but wasn't there some silliness about allowing the BMW's to run 16" rims in ITS?

But what about the cars that currently dont fit into ITS but are running basically at IT rules. Ala the M3's, 944 turbos etc. I am assuming stock diameter and any width? BMW prepared says whatever tire fits inside wheel wells. Stock class allows an inch wider and I think PCA stock allows the same. Any info would be appreciated as I am buying new rims. Thanks.

Under current rules, if you are to BMWCCA Prepared specs, then you are within GTS specs. Eventually we want to get to the point where GTS has it's own set of modification rules, that would still allow cars to run as PCA Prepared or BMWCCA Prepared. If you want to get wheels that BMWCCA Prepared allows, you will be safe as far as GTS future rules are concerned. Any rules added or changed will be to enhance the cars performance not to decrease performance.

Vaughan,

I have a question about dampers. Remote Reservoir dampers are not allowed in IT right? Are they allowed in the PCA classes that will run in GTS? I am not as familiar with PCA rules. Any feeling on whether they will be allowed in 2004? Thanks.

RR shocks are allowed in BMWCCA Prepared cars and I'm not sure about PCA. Here is what the PCA says about shocks:
"Shock absorbers are free providing they are of same type, using the same pick-up points, as supplied by the factory."

If you ask 3 people to interpret that you would get three different interpretations.

I would say the RR shocks are fine if the use the factory pick-up points.

I would have to talk to a PCA official to get the Clubs intent of this rule.

RR shocks are regularly allowed in PCA Stock classes, in addition to the rules appearing to allow them. RR shocks were legal in IT until this year, when they were made illegal (actually, it was a good year ago, but not made effective until this year). Supposedly this was to reduce cost.

I guess it reduces costs if you dont already have them. Thanks for the info.
