Hi there,
Is it possible to provide us with a slot for open SQL queries? I'd like to get data on, for example, fuel pressure regulation in the 931, but the existing search utility doesn't let me filter the way I want.
It'd be really cool to get at the data in here with queries we can generate, to filter out the crap and keep the good stuff.
In the meantime, there was a post by Vaughan a few weeks back about a cheapo fuel pressure regulator. Can anyone help find that one?
Thanks,
Rick |

hmmmm interesting idea Rick. I'll have to give it some thought.
I'd be more interested in extending the current search facility than allowing people to run raw SQL queries. |

Yes Jon, I believe that's the post I was looking for! Thanks. PS: Have you tried messing with fuel pressure on your car much? Any good results?
Peter, I can understand the hesitation about opening up the possibility of direct SQL queries. Your idea of sort of 'funneling' the searches is good.
1. Expose the search syntax?
Some of the things I wanted to do I just didn't have the 'rule set' at my disposal, so I don't even know how to perform it. For example, just for fun, I tried the classic '-' sign to eliminate '931' from my result set. It's tough to know if it worked, as various user 'handles' that had 931 did appear, but none in the text. So it might have worked.
2. (a) WHERE clause? It'd be nice if we could know a column name for the actual text body, maybe user name, and text title, and then write the WHERE clause. We might be safe from any trouble that way (i.e., no INSERTS or UPDATES).
and/or
(b) Expanded AND/OR capability. Being able to make our searches a little more sophisticated even with the ability to add 'and' and 'or' selectively, in the search box, would be really cool. Maybe we have that capability already, I dunno.
and/or
(c) Add 'Like' or some other equivalent operator, just for more flexibility.
I dunno how much strain searches put on your server, so maybe some of these will bog you down. But anyways, thanks for thinking about it Peter.
