|
|
Hey 924s enthusiasts.
I'm setting up an ITB setup on my 2L 1985 924.
I've gone for GSXR600 TBs and MaxxECU.
As i Will be 3d printing the intake manifold, i've included a plug for the brake booster but can't figure out how to re-use the OE crankcase ventilation system. I'd like to put it back in the intake so I won't have any nasty fumes in the car. Should i Add a plug on another cyl for the PCV or should i split it into 4 hoses, one of each going to 1 cyl.
Is there another option that I havn't thought about ?
A catch can could be used but it doesnt use the vacuum created by the intake to pull the nasty gases out the crankcase.
Thanks for your help.
I've been learning a lot from this forum for my project |

Have you given thought about removing the second flaps for gsxr 600. ive personally deleted them already but problem is what to use to plug the holes. Ive thought about chemical but im scared of it breaking off and having a small metal plug in my intake.
For the crankcase ventilation ive just used a hose and a plastic container |

I've removed the secondary flaps and plugged the holes with some iron epoxy paste. Bought it in a hardware store. It resists 150°C, oil and gas. As my Intake will be 3d printed, it will damp the vibrations coming from the engine and i'm pretty sure it won't break easily. If you clean the hole thoroughly, the bonding is strong |

I have no idea what your regulations are in Europe, but in US It only has to be vented to a 32oz (1l. mol) vented container. That worked perfectly for my race car. You do have to make sure the vent line is clear, if you have the old round top vent in the block it is filled with a filter material that can plug over the years. I cleaned mine as I could not remove it with destroying it by draining the oil and back flushing a couple of times with diesel. The new vents did not appear to have that filter material. _________________ Mike

No fumes. But you can put a hose from the catch tank to the air box to make it "sealed" and burn the fumes. Before the throttle plates, no vacuum. You don't have a lot of crankcase gases on an NA engine. _________________ /Magnus, Stockholm Sweden

I had some time to think about it and decided that i would use the hole in the factory airbox. Therefore i designed a whole new airbox replacing the distributor and coming in my itbs. It will allow me to use the factory airbox to hold the coolant tank and use the oem airfilter.
The project is going well, i just received my ECU, trigger wheel and fuel rail. Finally printed the Carbon fiber reinforced nylon intake manifold. Waiting to try the 3d printed injector holders
Currently waiting for ASA filament to print some new stuff (velocity stacks to start and airbox after). |

On the OE system, the pcv valve is connected before the throttle body so it isnt under vacuum |
