Title says it all. Heading over there for the race next Feb, camping not an option.

TIA

Bathurst is a large regional town - there will be accommodation in town however book now, don't delay!

Well, well Rasta Monsta, we finally get to meet up...probably.

And here I've been saving my 931st post for something special and here it is.
Welcome to our country...well in February at least.

I've been attending Bathurst since 1969, in some capacity or other, and certainly every 12 hour GT race since they began. In fact I'll be back there in November for the TCR World Tour. (2 litre cars)

The B12 is usually a fairly low key affair with around 5000 spectators; that is until this year, when post Covid euphoria and the appearance of a Red Bull F1 car doing demo laps, brought out quadruple that crowd.

Next year, who knows?
As Daniel stated above, Bathurst is a large rural regional town (by Australian standards) which boasts many hotels/motels. However at that time of the year, most will require a minium 3 night stay (or payment at least).

The creme de la creme of accommodation however is at Rydge's hotel, which is trackside (literally) at the last corner before Pit Straight. This is a spendy place but nothing a hotshot legal eagle such as youself couldn't afford.

Me, I always camp in the paddock behind the pits.

As already stated, book NOW! Let Google be your friend. Also try NSW (the state) Tourism.

If it were for the Supercars event in October, you would have missed out by a couple of years!!

If you're driving in from Sydney airport, allow @ 5 hours for the trip.

Goin' to Oz, mate? Cool.

I've been to the race several times. But ever so long ago, now.

I stayed at The Victoria a couple of times, back when it was a run-down hotel that'd seen better days. It used to be quite... erm... "rustic"

I've also stayed in Orange, a town east of Bathurst. It is -or was -under about 45mins to drive from Orange to Mt. Panorama, so, it wasn't a big deal to stay there and drive to the circuit. Unfortunately, it was so long ago, I've completely forgotten where I stayed. I do remember that they had a half a V8 Supercar on the wall in the bar/restaurant.

I've also camped at the circuit. It's good fun!

I echo everyone else... BOOK NOW!

Thanks for the tips, all! Found a lovely cottage on VRBO on Robin Hill, 5 minutes from the track.

See you all in February!

James....it has just been announced that V8 Supercars (who own the Bathurst 12 Hour Race) will open their season at Mt Panorama the following weekend, giving us a 10 day motorsport extravaganza. Of course there is separate ticketing for the following weekend. So if you are in the country long enough that may be a consideration, giving you the week in between, time for some sightseeing.
