I'm a happy bunny!
Took the turbo to the workshop Friday to change the crankcase breather hose. I saw a few cracks on it but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get the hose clamp at the breather off. So I hoped maybe I could get to it from below, and maybe find a second pair of hands if needed.
Turns out, the hose clamp was loose enough for the hose to just pull off. At the 90 deg bend, the hose was perished .. oops. About time for a replacement .
Then, as a nice surprise, another customer who has his 930 in the workshop for an engine and gearbox overhaul offered me a set of bypass valve gaskets, and we decided to change those as mine were leaking. It was an infernal fiddle to do, with the turbo in the car, but we managed... just about . Old gasket - new gasket:
I was astonished at just how much the mixture needed adjusting afterwards. Although I had expected some adjusting would be necessary after fixing vacuum leaks, this I hadn't seen coming.
Car runs smoothly, and after a spirited drive home, no more oil dripping down the turbo! Sooo happy!
