the are clearly a factory install.

Perhaps someone in the past had installed one of those no longer legal "Y" shoulder harness straps. They only needed one mounting point behind the passenger and driver's seats. _________________ 1979 924 NA race car

Hmmmm thats a good guess.. but with the rear seats up, wouldnt it be a little hard to attach?
how would those be for a harness mount? _________________ It was either this or a giant box of legos |

Doesn't look factory, looks like the hooks that are used for kid seats in the us, for a top tether _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

+1
I also bet there is no backplates in that sheet metal. So any large force will pull the fixings out of the panel in an instant. Certainly adult weight, maybe less so for kids. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Those D shackles are not factory.......but if you lift the carpet and liner in your cars you will discover tubular welded-in nuts, from the factory, for the use of child restraints. _________________ 80/81 932/8 ROW |

Another attempt...
Some sort of luggage strap location with the seats down? I seem to remember using a hook or something for the child seat that is farther back under the carpet
Seemed strange to put a child seat on a child seat _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

What I think is funny is that somebody did something small like this in the ancient past and it starts a discussion like this now
They had to strap something? _________________ 1980 931 since 1989
