How did you route the wideband plug through the firewall?

My car had a hole with a grommet through the passengers floor board to right behind the O2 sensor area I think where the AC drain used to go out, is where I ran mine..

I didnt
Wideband is temporary, wont stay with the car so i ziptied the wires and lead them into the engine compartiment where most of the wideband stuff is.
I didnt manage to read any afr anyway since the iphone app is not available anymore and the usb connection didnt work.
Dropped everything and just went for a bike ride...got a flat in the middle of nowhere and walked home. Could have been a better day

I actually ran my wideband through one of the holes up top by the factory harness - but it's getting pretty stuffed in there, and I still have the factory AC (mostly functional, though it'll need a recharge).

Also ran a hard tube - actually some brake tubing - through as well for a boost gauge, as rubber hose was getting pinched shut, too tight a fit!

With the AC still in there, it's gonna be a pain to also add in the upcoming Microsquirt loom, though; probably will have to break down and add a new hole and grommet for all that. May pull the brake booster and MC to get access down lower to make a hole down there; brake MC could use a fresh round of paint anyway.

So far its working as expected even at higher RPM or every day 27deg traffic conditions.
I havent pushed it all the way yet but drove it incrementally harder with often plug checks.
I installed a data logging system on the car that ended up being not operational so i'll have to take it off tomorrow.
Booked a dyno session in a couple of weeks so i'll be able to do measurements.

Also drove it in the rain...and it reminded me of driving on snow.

Meeting less round(undulately challenged) friends/relatives.

Morghen: Have you looked into the possibility to use the VW 1.4 Eaton E24 TVS charger instead of the older M45? Smaller package, higher efficiency, higher revs capability and integrated clutch are some avantages. Probably only half the capacity though (but running twice the speed).

EDIT: Bought one. 3 black 120 mm rotors. Most likely a V400. No interernal clutch, but a 2:1 speedincreaser. The 1.4 crank pulley is 1,5 larger than the SC pulley, pumping 1200cc per revolution when the enging only needs 700cc making 1,8bar.

The smaller V400 have similar capacity to the smaller K26. 600kg/hr is 0,165kg/s and can be found in the OEM turbo map.

The difference in efficiency is indeed substantial from the 4th generation M45 and the V400.
The prices for the V400 are also about the same as the M45.
The issue however is that the V400 has no easy mounting possibilities.
It only mounts on its outlet with 4 bolts and that kind of makes it a manifold mounted charger only.

The M45 has some mounting holes that can be used to position it in the 924 bay without too much trouble.

I'll think about a mounting solution for the V400 as well but it does not look too easy at the moment.

You'll have to spin that pretty fast if the name implies only 400cc per revolution!

Also I don't think you can have the throttle after that SC anyway, it makes internal compression so if it's not seeing vacuum at its inlet at cruise it's going to waste a load of power and you'll get crap mpg.

My M62 supercharger has an electric clutch but everything I've read suggests its a really bad idea to try and engage/disengage that at anything above idle speed and will destroy it very fast.

Ongoing evaluation under normal and sporty driving conditions.
So far i can note that the SC outlet metal temperature goes up to arond 50-55 C with an ambient temp of 28-30C.
I yet have to dyno it but an educated decision would be not to run more boost that is currently running.
It still pushes 0.2bar regardless of throttle position.

When the TB is open(even if only one bit), the recirc valve instantly shuts off completely so instant boost off the idle mark more or less, or at any given RPM. This results in a torque spike and you have to do an effort to drive this car in a civilized manner.
The small dual throttle of the 924 may cause this extra responsiveness.
For a sprint and when in a hurry this is fantastic, when trying to have a relaxing drive...its the wrong tool for the job

If you intake air temperature increases from 30 to 55 degrees, that is your 0.2 bar of "boost".

Awesome... The pics you take are very good and are inspirational at the same time. They help get through a rough day or help to push forward on a project

They make for nice wallpaper too!

Love a Mk2 Golf. I had a 16v 2 door with 16" wheels, dropped 2" on Bilsteins. Was a great car, but not as much fun as my 1.6 Mk1 Gti. That was a true lightweight ...
