Hi all,
I recently purchased one of my dream cars, a 1977 924 Euro spec.
It's to be considered a non runner, the engine runs OK but everything else needs looking over.
My main focus is to get the electrics fully working, and my second port of call (after re-soldering the hacked-up light switch socket) is the following:
(I've marked my questions in bold type, any input is highly appreciated!)
- Indicators not working. When turning on the indicators the green light stays on. (I haven't thought of checking whether the indicators themselves light up at all). The parking lights light up on the corresponding side when using the indicator stalk with ignition off, as they should.
- Hazards work, indicating the flasher itself works (right?). The frequency of flashing is normal.
- The flash-to-pass works, both with lights off (lights in bumper turns on) and on (main headlight turns on), but the high beams won't stay on. Am I right in thinking they should switch on when pulling the stalk towards the wheel, and turning back off when repeating the same motion?
- None of the instrument lights work
- Horn doesn't work
- Wipers don't work
I'll start by replacing all fuses and cleaning up the terminals in the fuse box, but since the hazards work OK, I think the problem lies elsewhere.
I'm suspecting the steering column switch to be defective, could that explain some of my issues?
Like I said; all input is greatly appreciated!

I've done some digging, and as far as I can make out, there is no flash-to-pass on the 924. What's likely my issue is the high beam switch itself. Hopefully I'll get some time to look into it this weekend. _________________ Felix

yes, pulling the stalk until it clicks will either turn on or off the high beams.
Nice color car. _________________ https://www.the924.com |

Thanks for your input! The colour is an old (~30 years) respray, originally it would have been silver only. But I like the patina! _________________ Felix

First of all, getting it to work properly. After that I'm probably just going to enjoy it. I've nicknamed the car "Project old man spec", since I'll make it just that. I'm looking for an original two spoke steering wheel, and the steel wheels are staying! _________________ Felix

I'll snap some photos when I get the chance. Do you want pictures of the hole itself or just the cover plate? _________________ Felix

i think the car has the stock steel rims on, very rare item here in Germany.
These were Standard but most customers went for the Aluminium wheels. _________________ NA 924 - april/1977- 4-speed-audi gearbox.
