Dragging Brakes

I had a cooling system issue with my car, and I ended up not getting around to fixing it for way longer than expected. As such, it's been sitting for around 4 years without moving.

It's a 924 with a 5-lug conversion donated by a 931.

When I first moved it, both E-brakes were stuck, but one released. The other one is dragging.

I took it for a very short drive around the neighbourhood, and now the service brakes are dragging.

I've never had a car with dragging brakes before. Is there a chance they'll free up with use? What's the best way to deal with this?

My guess is stuck caliper guide pins. I would take the calipers off, and see if they need a rebuild, and clean up/lube the guide pins at least.

I never understood how Porsche expected the guide pins to remain lubricated or even NOT corrode with them being completely exposed.

Modern cars I've worked on have seals to keep the grease in and the water out.

Remember, these disc calipers were low-maintenance brakes, back then. But they were never NO maintenance.

Beat the hell out of having to adjust drums all the time! Because many of the drums weren't even self-adjusting.

I do recommend using disc brake grease on those pins, easy to find at any local auto parts store. I have a huge lifetime-supply sized tube of synthetic disc brake grease I use.

Though yeah, modern sealed pin design would be nice...
