Hi all,
I have two sets of tyres/wheels options for my '82 NA (see below - getting new tyres soon).
The car runs standard springs, OEM dampers and 968 sway bars. It handles very well now with 14" wheels.
However, I am seeking advice on whether the additional rotating weight of the 15" wheels will more than offset the otherwise better handling of the bigger wheels and wider tyre?
Or am I being pedantic here .....?
The two tyre wheel options I have are below:
14x6.5J "Original "Tarantula" alloys - 6.5kgs (14.3lb) each (excl 195/65R14 tyres)
15x7J Three piece alloys - 8.0kgs (17.6lb) each (excl 205/55R15 tyres)
Thanks in advance! _________________ '81 Porsche 924 NA

Weight isn't such a big issue, but the total diameter is. Try to keep it as low as possible, it really makes a significant difference in acceleration due to the gearing differences.
But on lap time wise you will definitely win with the new setup. Just by the best tyres you can afford. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Cool. The suggested tyre sizes have the same diameter.
