Interesting report. No equal length pipes in sight either:-

This is because with twin-scroll having equal length is much less needed. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Its a pretty std setup for a oem turbo engine, minimize manifold volume is they key for pulse utilization, which maximizes available turbine power thus better fuel consumption and response. With vva and twinscroll you minimize cross talk /residual gases in the cylinders. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

If you also optimize the turbine efficiency characteristics for higher pulse amplitudes, then things starts to get real good. These are things i do for a living, i wish i could share some plots but that would be bad. Manifold volume really is a key when it comes to response, _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Yes, for throttle response. Does not affect boost treshold though as much as twin-scroll and/or turbine size (and many-many other things like shaft+impeller mass etc-etc) _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

The impressive part for me is the single piece casting of the twinscroll manifold/turbine housing in austenitic stainless. _________________ 1979 UK 932 |
