Hello, I had a little question about the distributor wiring. The two connections on the back are positive and negative right? Does anyone know how to tell which one is which?

A little add on to this is I'm running a msd 6al ignition and the diagram has positive, negative, and a third white wire running to the distributor. I'm not sure what the white wire is used for. If someone has done a msd on these car and could help me out that would be amaizing. Thank you so much in advance

It is confusing as it is set up for many cars. If you don't have the installation booklet download it or I could copy mine and send it to you. I have: 1-red to coil positive, 2. Black to coil negative, 3 purple and green to the distributor connections-I don't believe there is any polarity to the purple and green. I do not use the stock tach so you need to follow the installation directions to get the tach working as I believe it works off the Bosch CD unit. Looking at the connection to the coil I have the purple on the left. Hope that helps. Splice the white and purple into your connector if you can as it is a better connection than my home made one. I do have a box of that size spade connector if you need to go that way.

You will find it starts much quicker than stock.
