I've just returned from an epic roadtrip in the Cayman: 14 days, 5300+ miles, ~110 hours of driving, all with minimal time on interstate, most of it on two-lane highways.
The last time I did a big road trip, someone suggested I take more photos of the car in scenes. So while these aren't pix of a 924, I hope you enjoy them nonetheless.

Outstanding trip and pics. We were planning to go up to Montana and BC for a month, but didn't get that far due to all the fires and smoke up that way. _________________ Mike

Looks great! Nice trip!
We were at crazy horse 4 years ago, but I don't see much difference...

Excellent! More miles in 2 weeks than I put on in 6 months in my daily and two projects...
Good choice to visit Craters of the Moon! I used to live about 30-45 minutes north of there, in the Lost River Valley. Had I known you were going to ID, I could have recommended a couple other spots. That's certainly a highlight though. What a bizarre landscape. |

But I still found some absolutely incredible roads to drive...everything from crazy switchbacks to as fast as the Cayman would go on the Montana back roads!

Karen and I hit a bunch of those places also but i-phone shots don't compare. | A lot of patience and many months of fore-planning to be in certain locations at certain times of day...! I really had to be disciplined to stick to the plan, or I would have never gotten to all of the great locations.
gerben1986 wrote: | The only thing I'm missing is your Cayman and the 3 presidents at Mount Rushmore | I've been to Rushmore a couple of times. A big part of this trip was learning both sides of the story of the bloody and sad period of history when our nation was "settling" this part of the continent, so I really wanted to avoid going places and doing things I'd done before.

So many amazing roads, and so many things I'd never seen before...and things you simply can't see by traveling the interstate...like the Thousand Springs Scenic Byway (US-30 in the Snake River Canyon that basically parallels I-84), Malad Gorge State Park, Falls Creek Falls (easily one of the most stunning waterfalls I've ever seen), and Craters of the Moon. I went there specifically for Milky Way photos, and it didn't disappoint! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
