Okay gang, after many travails I now possess a used OEM 924 rear deck spoiler. But I'm a bit reluctant to start drilling the hatch frame to make the necessary holes needed to affix it!
My concern stems from having witnessed the violent explosion of tempered safety glass when nicked.
Anybody done this task (successfully) and if so, any advice to offer before I begin?
Rick

Don't nick the glass, it may explode at a later time because of surface defects you're causing it.
Get one with holes drilled?

Why bother? Full rear hatches with factory fitted spoilers are a plenty!!! Buy another hatch.

PS early spoilerless 924's look better without spoilers. Fact!

So nobody here has installed one? C'mon guys, one of you has to have put one on ... successfully.
Rick
P.S. If I had found a 924 hatch with a spoiler locally, I'd have bought it ... and the 944 spoiler is too large for my need ... and it creates too much drag.

I believe you have 2 options:
1- attempt to drill your current hatch, it may or may not work. And event if it work at the moment, it may fail in few weeks/months.
2- buy another one with the spoiler on it.

I would buy another one and save the spoiler-less as spare.

I have 4 or 5 spare 931 hatches in my storage area. You just need to make a trip up here for a Fourth Friday event.

Update... Prior to seeing Dan's reply, I took drill in hand and carefully drilled the frame perimeter and installed the spoiler. So far so good. We shall see if it lasts!
