Mains delivered to the engine builder. Clutch has been ordered. Hopefully I get this thing back before Summer.

Then I get to see what else is broken. Which I don't think is too much really. The power mirrors still worked.

Updates and links

Rear seat belts. I just want to install the manual 3 point belts. Doing some research.

Distributor pickup, bought the Standard Motor one, has the 3 prongs needed for an 81.

A/C compressor
I bought the model TCW 30040.101 from autocompressorworld.com it is only listed under the 924 Turbo, hopefully it will fit. This is one includes the clutch. The FOUR SEASONS 57320 seems to be readily available, but does not come with the clutch.

Also bought the fuel tank strainer and a new fuel sending unit from Porsche in Atlanta, it was cheaper there!

Still looking.

I have an AC compressor I took off my 80 931 just sitting..
I never even tried my AC before I removed it so I have no idea if it's any good or not, but it has been sitting safely inside this whole time so it isn't ruined I don't think..

You want it?

Sent you a pm.

I just bought this one
https://www.ebay.com/itm/351437378326

Looks like the same unit Griffiths sells for the 930, which is the same as the lowly 924.

I'll see if this one is works.

Also, found this company that will rebuild them for $180, in Van Nuys

@Goldwolf -- I posted in the seat belt thread a link to a 3pt retrofit belt from CIP1 (a primarily air-cooled VW supplier) as it might be appropriate. I am also interested in doing a 3pt conversion in my Weissach, so I might pick up a single belt to try when I get some time...

Yes thank you!

I also found these from some of the other seat belt threads
https://www.ebay.com/itm/SECURON-Seat-Belt-Static-Lap-Diagonal-Black-200/302043451160

They seem appropriate, I don't want the retractable ones, I think the mounting may be a pain. It seems like the manual 3 point mount points were in every car just not used in the US.

Also, sent my compressor to compressor international, I ordered it 4 times from various places, all were out of stock

My saga continues.

Got the A/C compressor back from Compressor Intl, they turned it around in about a day. $180 plus shipping both ways. Looks good so far.

The distributor pickup I ordered turned out to have the wrong connector, we think it is Intermotor part#LX596 that works for a 86 Jetta.

The rest of it matched exactly. Of course it was rebuilt into the distributor so had to order the female plug(443-906-236) from VW, should be here tomorrow. Hopefully this will work.

That is the last piece to get this thing running. The connectors on this pickup are blades, I need a backup connector, anyone know of a squeeze type that would work?

The original plug is NLA, so maybe this is another workaround, although you could just use the spade terminals on the old pickup. I don't know the Porsche part, but this is the VW part.
Still on my car

The VW part

This obscure post Club 80-90 helped me out

Just stumbled on this, I guess you can make your own connector.

The VW connector and wires from VW worked and the car is running!

Some final tuning to be done, and charging of the AC. I ordered the bushing for the throttle cable (823721567) as it is popping off.

I don't like the blue wires.

This has been its home for the past 2 years, I think its coming home next week. 944's and 911's have kept it company. I am getting the windshield replaced first.

Drove the damn thing home Wednesday. A/C works! All the electrics seem to work. More to come, need to fix the sunroof brackets and seal. Already have the seals. No longer (under repair)!
