Ive been tackling some back yard job wiring on this car. The starter wring was arcing out causing all sorts of issues.

We've re done it. But now the alternator wont charge. The battery light wont turn on. But there's 12v coming from the 3pin plug that goes to the alternator. i've tested the wires, and ran new ones. Ive changed alternators to a known good one and no charge.

It's wired correctly as i went by the schematics.

Any help appreciated

I need to get this car driving tomorrow as its booked in for a road worthy and running out of time.

Silly question but is it grounded correctly ? If it is and still not charging then try to run a direct cable from the alt to the battery and by-pass the starter.

Yes its grounded, the car starts ect no problem there.
The battery connects to the starter and the starter goes to the alternator and there's power at the big and little cable on the alternator.

Ok finally fixed it.

after 4 hours of trying and testing. I had everything wired up correctly, and i'd turn the ignition on and id hear relays clicking, and the dash would dim.

i thought i must be on the right track weirdly.

So i unplugged 2 of the 3 wires from the 3 pin plug that goes to the starter. (i cut the plug off and use spades as the wires where about to fall off the crimps)

Started the car. plugged them back in and it worked.

I don't even know what the initial problem was. Im suspecting grounding.
