I see a lot of V8 swaps in 924's using GM engines but not so many using a 928 engine. Is there a reason? Cost and parts availability, perhaps? |

mostly just physical size...
a 928 engine is about 28" from valve cover to valve cover and depending on year weighs up to 600lbs with accessories...
it's just a giant hunk of metal that in best original form only put out 350 hp (if you can even find one of those engines).
it does FIT in a 924/944 chassis but you can get the same or more power and save 100+ lbs using an LS-based engine or other and have a lot more working room. |
