Hello,

My car has been garaged for several years, water has somehow gotten in the ECU and corroded it. After removing it and opening it up it's clear that it's also been refurbished before. Someone has also kindly removed the label with the part number. I've got no spark when my ECU is connected and recently purchased a confirmed working ECU online but it's completely different to my old one. With that plugged in I do however have spark but the car isn't injecting (possibly due to the ECU being the wrong part number). Is there any way to identify which ECU I need to put in my car? It's a European 1987 924s.

I'll attach pictures of my ECU if I can.

I think you have to match the period-correct AFM with the same year DME. I swapped an '88 924S DME into my '83 944 track car, didn't work until I swapped in the '88 924S AFM.

Thanks for the reply.

After further testing the new ECU does appear to be doing everything it's supposed to. I have a pulse going to the injectors and the fuel pressure looks ok. The injectors just aren't working, perhaps blocked up due to the 10 year old fuel in the car. I was going to try and clean them but I think it's beyond that now. I've bought some new injectors to try. Before I put them in though I think it would be a good idea to replace the fuel filter at the same time and jumper out the DME relay so that I can run as much of the old fuel out of the car as possible before trying again. Some models also have a fuel filter inside the tank don't they?

Yes, there is a filter in the tank. Used to be 20 bucks in the US, now around 90 bucks.

Is that for the cars with the metal tank only? Some models have a plastic tank don't they? Hopefully mine doesn't have one, I haven't had it on a ramp yet. At this rate it would have been more cost effective to buy a working car.. although I think it will feel more rewarding when I eventually get behind the wheel!
