Bummer, but turns out we'd've never made it - were stuck on 294 in traffic for the duration... yay. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Oh do I hear you. I can't stand that highway
I made up my own saying for Indiana... "Welcome to Indiana, where the traffic blows and then it snows..." _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

LOL...
We realized this weekend, towing back and forth through Chicago, that you can go spend some quality time in Chicago, drop a ton of cash, and see all the best sights, without ever leaving the highway! _________________ Vaughan Scott

Every major thoroughfare across the top of Indiana is under construction (I-90, I-94, I-80, US-12, US-20, and US-30). There is not a single route you can take to avoid it completely. The best way around it I've found is to take US-12 between 249 (in Burns Harbor IN) and the US-12-to-I-94 interchange just east of New Buffalo MI. This still requires you to go through about 10 miles of construction on 94 just west of the 249 interchange, but you can avoid the worst of it in both directions. It's probably not any faster, but at least on US-12 you can keep moving at 40-60 MPH and avoid the bumper-to-bumper insanity on 90/94.
As for 294, time of day is everything. The best times to get through there in either direction are between 10AM-2PM CDT and 8PM-5AM CDT. Otherwise, forget it. If you can't time your trip to get thru there in one of those slots, add 1 or 2 hours to your commute. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Hoping to make it out this month! I should have new brakes installed by next week. Is this a family event or does it end up being more like a few guys hanging out in the garage? Either way, for my first time out I might just show up solo because chances are I will not want to do family stuff but talk with some knowledgeable folks about this awesome vehicle! |

It's totally a family event. Plenty of hanging out in the garage, but a lot of the activity takes place in Deanna's awesome kitchen. Looking forward to meeting you in person! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Hmmm.... Looks like fun but I was at Deanna and Dan's a week ago and all we did was eat and drink. _________________ 1979 924 NA race car

For September, we will be reprising the big annual celebration we've done for the past two years. It will be more informal than last year's 92Forty event, but no less fun!!! Overnight guests are welcome to camp out on Friday and Saturday nights, but please contact me to confirm your plans.
We'll be having brats and Deanna's chili bar. Please plan to bring a dish or side to pass, along with your favorite beverage. A per-person donation of $10 would be appreciated (pay at the door) to help defray rental costs for chairs, food, supplies, and the commodes.
All car enthusiasts are welcome, but we'll reserve parking in the upper lot for our favorite marque!

I am thrashing like crazy on my car so I can bring it. Burned 3 vacation days next week just to work on it. It will be on my trailer even if I get it done. With a 700 mile round trip that is too far for an untested car. My wife and I will be there Saturday morning and staying all day. _________________ 87 924S |
