So I finally got the interior out of my car, all 100 lbs. of 35 year old carpet and insulation pieces. My plan for the car is to keep it to a bare minimum weight wise so I don't want to replace the old heavy pads with new heavy pads. So my question is what is the lightest weight sound dampener on the market ?

I do have a brand new German carpet set ,so that will be going in but what to put under that to keep *some of the road noise down ?

I actually bought a bit of that stuff and used it on the 924.
Like you I teared down all previous sounds deadening.
I had simply put at the beginning "under carpet" with moisture film for heat and water protection that looked very similar to what was there before.
I had some water leak in my passenger footwell and decided to remove it and put the lobucrod in it's place.
This stuff is a lot lighter than my previous carped underpad and is quite easy to trim and glue in place.
I don't know about the heat portion of it but I can tell you I saw a difference in sound right away!

Also note that I had put liquid sound deadening on all my floor when I gutted it. unless technology changed majorly in the last 4 years I would not do it again and rather simply glue this lobucrod all over the place.
