Does anyone have a belly pan for a 1980 931? I lost mine in a move. Is it really necessary for cooling or can I run it without? I will be doing a 944 radiator swap anyway. Thanks guys for your help![/img] |

The belly pans absolutely aid in cooling, as the louvers act as extraction vents that assist in drawing air through the radiator and exiting it under the car. Unfortunately, the belly pans on most cars have long since been discarded, so they are difficult to find. Post an ad in the For Sale / Wanted to Buy sub-forum, and contact every seller advertising a 924 parts car until you get lucky and score one. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

My friend removed it on his track 924, running without the pan lowered the oil temperature quite a bit. But it probably reduces aero drag to have it on. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Im speaking from experience with both my 931 and my 968.
The pan is essential for proper cooling- were talking the difference of 10-15*C on my cars.
The pan creates a low pressure area in the engine bay allowing more high pressure air flow through the radiator.
If your in a moderate climate and dont plan on increasing boost you will be fine without it. _________________ 1978 924
