I have a question about the timing on a 924 turbo ROW 1980 (M31.01/ series 1)

The manuals I have only describe US cars

Should the timing be set at 2000 rpm on 20 or 25 degree ?

And should the vacuum hoses be disconnected or not ?

I don't believe there is any difference between ROW and US-spec regarding the timing, but I could be wrong. If there is a difference, it is not reflected in the 1980 931 supplement for the FSM (it is the same as above).

Uhh, no, it's 20°BTDC+/- 1°, vac lines removed, as noted on both the sticker (posted from my 80 931) and confirmed by FSM.

Is there a different FSM for US vs ROW? FSM says 20+/-1 BTDC @ 2000 RPM

There should be, they're in different languages. There should be a supplement if each version isn't represented.

477 000 255 A is the timing sticker for '79 & '80 row cars. It shows 25°-2, warm, vacuum line disconnected.

Maybe not all the FSM's are created equal? Here's pics of mine, I assume its a RoW English edition as this is the first page relating to setting the timing - page 28 - 6

And then this page 28 - 8 relating to US and Japan cars

I'm no expert but there appears to be a difference

Different gas, higher compression, more boost, different recurve in the ignition distributor. So likely a different initial timing setting as insurance policy against detonation.
