Can someone direct me to where the engine number is on the 924 2Lit block, I found a number on a 1979 year model which is found at the top right corner (photo) which is 046103921A,, not sure if this is it since details found on the internet state that it should have XK followed by 6 digits,,, either Im going blind or somethings wrong since Iv looked at the engine block and no such letters and numbers exist.

The number I have noted is found right above the silver/grey water pipe attached to the side of the block on the top right side

See where the piece of blue masking tape is in the lower right of this image? That's where the engine code should be stamped.

That information might be in the "PET," the Porsche parts catalog.

You can download it for free from Porsche.com.

It won't tell you if the motor left the factory in that car, but it will tell you if it is the right year.
